NURSING SKILLS

🙋While watching these videos you should have your textbook and notes handy. Practice these skills way your instructor tells you and according to your textbook. You may note any mistakes that are made while watching these videos. Keep in mind although a skill may be done a different way, it does not mean it is done incorrectly. Can also vary according to hospital policy or PCP orders.

Notice she ensured there was suctioning, oxygen and padding.

Restraints

Always obtain an order for the restraint within the hour.
1. Do not obtain an order for retraints first use other measures and if these measures fail then use restraints.
2. Use least restrictive measures first such as hand mitts
3. If you must use restraints ensure you are assessing your pt. frequently for injury. In this video they recommended to check on your pt. eveyr 2 hours but thats too long. Check hospital policy or your text book but every 30 min. is reasonable.
Think about when you would use each type of restraint.
